I also love how many times the game surprises you with hidden items and new characters to meet and greet. I love that challenges stretch across different areas as it really joins everything together and makes it feel like one huge vacation. It is full of humour, is very colourful and well designed and is just a total joy to spend time with. Vacation Simulator is yet another quality PSVR title from Owlchemy Labs. The skiing meanwhile sees obstacles head towards you at speed and you’ll need to dodge left and right in order to avoid them and reach the target score.Įvery challenge you encounter and successfully defeat will reward you with memories for the area you are in, even though you will occasionally need to get items from a different area in order to complete the challenge, hence why it is handy having the backpack. The latter is really fun, having you grab a coloured shape and have to keep climbing, only being allowed to touch the same colour or shape you touched previously. Once you have enough memories in this area you can then head up the mountain further and take part in some skiing and visit the mountain climbing challenge. Here you can relax in the hot tub, create people hot drinks, do some knitting and have a snowball fight, while there is even the option to build some ice sculptors. Perhaps my favourite area is the Mountain. Getting enough memories in the Forest will send you on the trail to the geyser, although on the way you will run into many games and challenges, which you can complete. The fishing is quite interesting in that you need to catch different coloured fish, although you won’t always find the right colour, so will have to feed them various food until you get the colour you want. You can also head to the campfire and listen to a story, make pancakes and cook marshmallows. Here you’ll be able to go fishing, paint pictures and even make your own flower garden. When you decide to head to the forest, the game is mixed up once more. There are many different games you can play with the Sports Bot, you’ll just need to find the right ball.Įlsewhere, you can head to the barbeque and act like you are working, making up all manner of concoctions for your fellow vacationers or you just relax, building sand castles, taking selfies or you can just complete some other tasks and if you have enough memories, even go deep seep diving to search for some long long treasure. The first thing I did was head into the water and marvel at the amazing water mechanics, although it wasn’t long before I found someone to play Football with, trying to get the ball past him into a goal in exchange for a memory, the latter of which is used to unlock new areas and counts towards the completion of the game. As with the previous game, you can pick up all manner of items and throw them at people’s faces, but apart from messing around in this way, there is so much to do. For me, it was the beach and I’m glad I made this my first destination. Perhaps the hardest thing about Vacation Simulator is choosing which resort to head to first. That’s right, you can play games on the TV, in fact, you’ll even find carts lying about in the various resorts that you can put in your backpack and bring home with you, allowing you to check out even more games. You also have the sitting room, which includes a TV and Game Machine. Your holiday home also has a mini-fridge, which is extremely overpriced, a PC, so you can browse the internet and of course, a bedroom, which includes a closet and mirror to change your look and a safe/shelf to store items for when your backpack is full.Įlsewhere in your home, you’ve got a bathroom, which is also the first room you’ll visit in order to create your avatar. You are also able to store your camera in it, which is great for capturing selfies and also memories of your holiday. Here you are given a backpack, which will allow you to carry any interesting items you find. Vacation Simulator starts off with a few basics, letting you know that you can wave at a robot to get its attention, which is helpful when you forget what you were supposed to be doing, but other than that you are pretty much left to your own devices, free to wander between the Beach, Forest and Mountain locations and take part in the many activities you’ll find along the way.Īs with any good vacation, it’s nice to have somewhere comfortable to stay, so before you head to the beach or elsewhere you can check out your holiday home. The Job Simulator follow up has been out for PC for a little while now, but at last, we PSVR owners get to sample the sequel to what is still one of the best VR games out there and to be honest, it is bloody fantastic. Going on holiday is always fun and now you can do it from the comfort of your home thanks to Owlchemy Labs’ Vacation Simulator.
